A map of the encampment of the Allied army at Westmalle, 27 April-14 May 1747. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with west to top (compass rose).

None of the individual regiments is shown or named; they are amalgamated in groups and are coloured according to nationality: British (red); Austrians (green); Hanoverians (light yellow); Dutch (dark yellow); Hessians (pale blue). The area covered extends from Brecht (51°21'00"N 04°38'17"E) and St Lenaert (Sint-Lenaarts 51°20'55"N 04°40'48"E) in the north to St Antoine (Sint-Antonius 51°16'00"N 04°38'19"E) in the south-west and Zoersel (51°16'05"N 04°42'46"E) in the south.

Condition: five fold lines; ink border smudged. Verso: foxing; top left, water-stained patch and shadow from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
