A map of the French lines and encampments at Tongeren, 1747. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top (compass rose).

The area covered by the map extends from Harenn (Haren 50°47'34"N 05°23'57"E) in the north-west, to the area around Elderen ('s Herenelderen 50°48'31"N 05°30'02"E) in the north-east; and from the area around Ruson (Rutten 50°44'51"N 05°26'36"E) in the south-west to the area south of Frere (Vreren 50°45'06"N 05°29'45"E) and Glaen (Glons 50°45'11"N 05°32'44"E) in the south-east. The positions of the camps appear to have been surveyed, together with the lines of the French fortifications to the east and north-east of Tongeren.
