A map of the encampments of the Allied army, under the command of Prince Charles of Lorraine, and of the French army, under the command of Marshal Saxe, at Burdinne, north of Namur, 20 August 1746. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top.

This map was made at the Headquarters of the Hanoverian generals, at Meffle (i.e. Meeffe 50°36'24"N 05°01'03"E) [see bottom left, right of scale bar:] fait à Meffle ce 26 Aout 1746.

The lines of the camp extend from present-day Hanret (50°34'53"N 04°56'54"E) in the west to Fallais (50°36'36"N 05°10'16"E) and Fumal (50°35'12"N 05°10'59"E) in the east (a distance of about 18 km), and from north of Embesin (Ambresin 50°37'50"N 05°01'51"E) in the north to Hannesse (Hannêche 50°34'42"N 05°02'54"E) in the south (a distance of about 6-7km). The cartographer has marked the old Roman road and a number of old tombs to the north.
