A map of the British attack, under the command of Admiral Edward Boscawen (1711-61) of Pondicherry, August-October 1748. First Carnatic War (1746-8). Oriented with west to top.

This map shows the British siege works on the south-east side of the French stronghold of Pondicherry. The British combined operations were commanded by Admiral Boscawen. The siege lasted from 6 September to 11 October when, having achieved nothing, Boscawen decided to raise the siege.
