Etching and engraving; printed on paper; hand-coloured | Scale: 1:7,500 approx. | RCIN 729044

A map of the French siege of Freiburg, 22 September-4 November 1744. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top.

Shows details of the diversion of the River Dreisam between 24 and 28 September, and the direction of fire from the French batteries. The French approaches are coloured in yellow.

This map was originally published in 1744 on smaller sheetlines, without the military information. Le Rouge has updated the information and extended the area covered in order to include the siege works, batteries and lines of fire. The size of the original map is indicated by the black vertical and horizontal lines which run across the face of the map.
