A map of the passage of the River Var on 30 November 1746 by the Austrians and Sardinians under the command of the Comte de Braun. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with south-west to top.

The area of coastline covered extends from St Laurens (Saint-Laurent-du-Var) in the North to Antibes (43°34'48"N 07°07'23"E) in the south. This episode in the campaign in Provence was reported in the London Magazine January 1747, p.76. The Allied army, comprising about 20,000 Austrian and 10,000 Piedmontese, crossed a shallow but fast-flowing 300-yards-wide section of the Var without loss.
