A map of the encampment of the Allied army, commanded by John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722), at Cambron, 13-26 October 1706. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with south-west to top.

The encampment extends in a more or less straight alignment, deployed in two lines of order of battle, between Chièvres (50°35'16"N 03°48'25"E) in the north, running east of Bauffe (50°34'11"N 03°51'12"E), and ending at Lens (50°33'25"N 03°53'58"E).

Condition: two fold lines; old weaknesses along the folds repaired with paper strips pasted to the verso before being laid down on linen; pin holes around edges; surface dirt; brown stains. Verso: foxing; top left, water-stained patch from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
