A map of the siege of Tournai, 28 June-3 September 1709, by the Allied army commanded by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722) resulting in the surrender of the French-held town on 28 July and of the citadel on 3 September. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north-west to top.

This map shows all the territory which Cumberland was to fight over during the Battle of Fontenoy (11 May 1745). Unfinished; the title panel, bottom right, is blank.

Condition: five fold lines; heavily worn along centre horizontal fold, repaired on verso before being laid down on linen; considerable brown staining. Verso: heavily stained brown; large water-stained patch, shadow, and fragment from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
