A map of the siege of Turin carried on by Philippe Charles, duc d'Orléans (1674-1723) and Louis d'Aubusson de la Feuillade, duc de Roannais (1673-1725), from 14 May to 7 September 1706 when Turin was relieved on 7 September by troops of the Imperial army commanded by Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736). War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points are engraved outside the borders).
This map is drawn to two scales; the larger scale is used to depict the city of Turin and the immediate surroundings with the siege works, and the smaller scale is used for the surrounding country. The circumvallation of the besieging army is shown in detail, together with the positions of the encamped regiments, as well as those of the Imperial army. The action between the two armies is shown to the north-west of the city, between Lucento and Faltessan, now under the northern suburbs of Turin.
