A view of Governor George Augustus Eliott, later first Baron Heathfield of Gibraltar (1717-90) standing with an unidentified officer, directing the operations against the Spanish floating batteries. American War of Independence (1775-83): Great Siege of Gibraltar (21 June 1779-7 February 1783).

Not in Parker. Crookshank, Section 33, no.38, records this print with a publication date of Dec. 24th, 1788. This may be a misprint for 1785; he states that this is a 'scarce plate of which only reprints are usually met with'.

Dedication: [bottom, below title:] Most Humbly Inscribed to the OFFICERS of the ROYAL REGIMENT of ARTILLERY. By their most Obedient Servant G.F. Koehler L.t Roy.l Artillery.

Condition: one fold line.
