A view of the defence of Gibraltar on 14 September 1782, when the combined fleets of France and Spain, with their battering ships, were repulsed by the Gibraltar garrison. American War of Independence (1775-83): Great Siege of Gibraltar (21 June 1779-7 February 1783).
