A high oblique view/map of the retaking from the Dutch, commanded by William of Nassau (13 August 1592-18 July 1642), of Forts Kallo and Verrebroek on 20 June 1638 by the Spanish, commanded by Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand of Austria (1609/10-9 November 1641), Governor of the Spanish Netherlands. Eighty Years War (1568-1648). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points).

This print shows the events between 13/14 June, when William occupied Fort Liefkenshoek (not marked on this map) up river from Kallo. The Dutch forces were sent to harrass the Spaniards in Forts Verrebroek and Sainte Marie (both shown in the print) and on 18 June took Fort Kallo only for it to be retaken by the Spanish, following a bloody battle in which the Dutch were soundly defeated, on 20 June.
