This encampment and review took place during George II’s first visit to Hanover as King of Great Britain.
The location of this encampment is on an area of former heathland south-west of Bettenhausen (marked as Pettenhausen on the map) to the east of Kassel. The paper mill was marked on later maps (e.g. Therbu's Affaire de Sandershausen (1758) at RCIN 731067.al.) and a paper factory exists in the same locality today. The roads are annotated with their destinations: ‘Münden’ probably refers to Hedemünden (51°23ʹ24ʺN 09°45ʹ47ʺE); Ochshausen is now a part of the the area of Lohfelden (51°16ʹ00ʺN 09°32ʹ00ʺE).
Condition: at least six fold lines; very creased as if formerly tightly rolled up; surface dirt along left edge of recto; bottom right, a small part cut away; some foxing. Verso: induced discolouration; surface dirt along right edge.
