A view of the encampment on Hounslow Heath in 1740. William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, was present at this encampment, which took place under the command of General Sir Charles Wills (1666-1741). Cumberland's tent is marked with an asterisk, and is at the head of the row of tents between streets ‘c’ and ‘d’. Dedication: [bottom, below title:] To his Royal Highness the Duke of CUMBERLAND This Plate is most humbly Dedicated by his Obedient Servant George Bickham junior. Additional text: [bottom, below dedication, a key to the different parts of the camp and to:] The principal Streets & Sutlers Booths. Condition: slightly creased; no fold lines. Verso: brown discolouration; some ink marks.
