A map of Barcelona, defended by Catalan rebels and the French under the viceroy of Catalonia, Phillippe de la Motte-Houdancourt (1605-24 March 1657) and John Gaspar Ferdinand de Marchin [or Marsin], Comte de Granville (1601-1673) and besieged between July 1651 and October 1652 by Spanish forces commanded by Don Juan de Austria (the Younger) (7 April 1629-17 September 1679), resulting in the capitulation of the city on 13 October 1652. Catalan Revolt (1640-1659).
There appears to be no explanation for the letters on the view.
