This map shows Vauban's extensions to the fortifications which he made by adding a bastion on the Heights of Bouge to the east of the town, and two more to the west of it and constructing a strong stone redoubt between the Coehoorn and Terra Nova Forts to the west. It also shows, in detail, in yellow, the trenches of the Allied approach works to the east of the town, on the Heights of Bouge and on the south side of the River Sambre, as well as in front of the Coehoorn and Terrra Nova Forts.
