A high oblique view of the Fourth Battle of the Dardanelles, fought 17-19 July 1657 between the Ottoman fleet, commanded by Topa Mehmed Pasha and the combined fleets of Venice, Order of St John (Malta) and the Papal States, commanded by Lazzaro Mocenigo resulting in the breaking by the Ottomans of the Venetian blockade of the Straits. Cretan War (Fifth Ottoman-Venetian War) (1645-69). Oriented with east to top (compass rose).
This print is very similar to RCIN 723111 and appears to be a substantial re-working of it.
