1715 or later

Pen, ink and watercolour on paper; laid down on linen | Scale: not stated. 1:63,000 approx. | RCIN 726089

A map of the siege of Swedish-held Stralsund, under the command of Charles XII of Sweden (1682-1718) from 12 July-24 December 1715, by Danish, Saxon and Prussian troops commanded by the Danish General Carl Rudolf, Duke of Württemberg-Neuenstadt (1667-1742), resulting in an Allied victory. Great Northern War (1700-1721). Oriented with north to top.

This map shows the Swedish lines closely surrounding Stralsund, and the outer ring of fortified lines constructed by the Danes, Saxons and Prussians. The encamped regiments of each army are marked and named. The landscape is colourfully rendered so that low-lying marshland is easily distinguished from the higher agricultural land.

The following settlements are shown: Kerden Hagen (Klein Kordshagen 54°19'22"N 13°00'15"E) and Groß Kedingshagen (not named; 54°20'12"N 13°02'07"E) in the north-west, Pöth (Pütte 54°17'30"N 12°59'03"E) and Langendorff (Langendorf 54°17'39"N 13°00'31"E) are marked in the south-west, Lüdershagen (Groß Lüdershagen 54°16'51"N 13°03'24"E) in the south, Vogtshagen (Voigdehagen 54°16'13"N 13°05'23"E) in the south-east.
