A map of the Russian operations between the Don and Dnieper rivers, and the Crimea, in 1736. Russo-Turkish War (1735-9). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points).

This map is based on the Russian original at RCIN 728007, showing the marches and operations of the Russian army in 1736 and the extensive fortified line ‘Die Ukrainische Linie’ running from the River Dnieper to the River Donets.

Additional text: [bottom right, in rectangular panel surmounted by the Russian imperial eagle with standards and armour, a descriptive key, A-I, K, to the abbreviations on the map:] EXPLICATION.

Condition: seven fold lines; formerly folded to 14.0 x 17.8 cm. Verso: ink smudges; bottom centre, water-stained patch on verso, from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label; two small tears, bottom.
