A map of the British encampment at Lake George in June and July 1758. French and Indian War (1754-63). Oriented with south-west to top (cardinal points).
The old French lines from 1757 are indicated together with the outlines of the old Fort William Henry. The encamped numbered regiments are the 42nd, 46th, 55th, 44th, 1st and 4th Battalions Royal Americans and 27th. Outposts of the Advanced Guard, Provincial Light Infantry, Major Rogers's encampment, and the road to Fort Edward are also indicated. The location of this encampment is at the southern end of Lake George at approximately 43°25'N 73°42'W.
