A plan of the fortified walls of the city and outlying forts of Nîmes set in a high oblique view of the surrounding country, with a profile of the new fortification works as they stood on 4 July 1629 when Louis XIII (27 September 1601-14 May 1643) took the city. Huguenot Rebellion (Rohan Wars) (1627-1629). Oriented with north-west to top (cardinal points).

The attribution of the Royal Collection print to Bosse is made on stylistic grounds, based on the topographical prints attributed to him by BnF.
