A map of the Battle of Soor fought on 30 September 1745 between the Prussian army, commanded by Frederick II (The Great), King of Prussia (1712-86), and the Austro-Saxon army, commanded by Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine (1712-80), resulting in a Prussian victory. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top [‘Nord’ is engraved outside top border).

The Prussians, though outnumbered and taken by surprise, gained the battle by seizing the initiative and rushing to the attack. The Prussian army rectangles are coloured in red, and those of the Austro-Saxon army are in black and yellow. This is a small-scale map centred on Soor with Trautenau (Trutnov, Královéhradecký Kraj, Czech Republic 50°33'39N 15°54'45E) and Schatzlar (Žacléř, Královéhradecký Kraj, Czech Republic 50°39'47"N 15°54'38"E) to the north and Konigshof (or Königinhof an der Elbe: Dvůr Králové nad Labem, Královéhradecký Kraj, Czech Republic) 50°25'54"N 15°48'50"E) to the south.

Condition: one fold line; foxing. Verso: right, centre, water-stained patch from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
