A medium-scale topographical map of the encampments of the Allied army on both sides of the River Scheldt, from 22 June to 31 July 1744. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points with magnetic north).

A detailed topographical map of both sides of the River Scheldt, with schematic distinctions between the fluvial plain, cultivated land, and wooded areas. The map shows the positions of the encampments on the east side of the river, before 31 July, and the positions that were taken on the west banks of the river after crossing it on 31 July. Every regiment is named in the key. Marshal Wade's headquarters were at the Chateau d'Axelwalle (Akselwal, 50°53'47"N 03°38'12"E). Only two crossing points are shown. One would pass through Oudenaarde, the other would be by way of the two pontoon bridges at Gavere.
