A map of a Hanoverian encampment in October 1742 near Evere, in the present-day northern suburbs of Brussels. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with south-east to top.

The du Plats were a family of Hanoverian engineers. It is uncertain which du Plat is the author of this map. The style resembles that of Georg Josua du Plat (1722-95), although it is possible that it could have been his father, Pierre Joseph du Plat (1691-1753).

The Hanoverian regiments are encamped on the east bank of the River Zenne. One line is positioned between the river and Ever (Evere). A second line is encamped between Ever and the road to Charbeck (Schaerbeek, 50°52'09"N 04°22'38"E). Regiments are named and the rectangles are coloured according to the uniforms. The Brussels canal, with the tree-lined roads to either side, forms the north-western, or bottom, boundary of the map.
