Robert Napier (c. 1703-1766)
A list of the march routes of the British cavalry between Maastricht and Coblenz, 11-31 May [1743]. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48).
The list gives the dates at which the cavalry arrived at destinations between Maastricht from 11 May [1743] as far as Coblenz on the 31st with seven days' rest, at intervals, during the march. It is accompanied by an outline map at RCIN 728084.a showing only the principal roads, coloured in ochre, and the main settlements along the way, on which distances are indicated by short lines across the routes, representing the number of leagues, or lieues, between towns.
