A map of the encampments and orders of battle of Hanoverian and Hessian troops at Hamelin in October 1741. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-east to top (cardinal points).

A map showing the encampments, on the east bank of the Weser, of the Hanoverians between Tündern (52°03'55"N 09°22'32"E) and the River Weser, and of the Hessians between Haacke (Hajen 52°00'00"N 09°26'14"E) and Grohne (Grohnde 52°01'04"N 09°25'08"E). The troops are camped in order of battle; each regiment is named, and the battalion and squadron rectangles appear to be coloured according to the uniforms. Cultivated land is indicated by lines representing tilled soil; rough grassland, typically on the river banks, is shown by a low tussock symbol. Major routes and settlements are shown, together with an indication of hedging or fencing. Relief is shown by long, fine hachures.
