A map of the march route of the British cavalry between Aix-la-Chapelle and Mainz in 1743. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48) Oriented with north-east to top.
Other copies of the map, in different hands, are at RCINs 728084.a. and 728085.
The date of the content is given by reference to RCIN 728084.a and from the old catalogue entry, which gives the title as it appears on RCIN 728085. The attribution to Hancko is made on stylistic grounds.
Shows the similar information to RCINs 728084.a and 728085. An outline map showing only the principal roads, coloured in ochre, and the main settlements along the way. Unlike the other two maps, there is no indication of distance along the routes. An accompanying list by Robert Napier, at RCIN 728084.b, gives the stages of the march form the area around Maastricht on 11 May [1743] as far as Coblenz on the 31st with seven days' rest, at intervals, during the march.
? François Hancko (active 1741-8) (draughtsman)
