The encampment extends from Wattenheim in the north to Hoffheim (Hofheim 49°39'39"N 08°25'00"E) in the south, a distance of about 3 km (1.8 miles). The two bridges used during the French retreat are shown, with the protecting field fortifications, connecting Nordheim (49°40'54"N 08°23'12"E) with Fahre (place name now preserved in the road name ‘Fahrweg’) on the west bank of the Rhine, south of Rhein Turckheim (Rheindürkheim 49°41'58"N 08°21'20"E).
