    An order of battle of the British army in 1742 under the command of John Dalrymple, 2nd Earl of Stair (1673-1747). War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48).

    The tentative attribution to Schulz is made on stylistic grounds. The General Officers under Marshal the Earl of Stair are Lieutenant-Generals Campbel, the Earl of Dunmore, and Honeywood; Major-Generals Legonier, Cope, Howard, Earl of Albemarle and Hawley. Regiments are named. The horse and dragoon regimental rectangles are diagonally coloured blue and white, the infantry regiments are in red and white.

    The squadrons, dragoons and battalions are: Hawley, Honywood, Lord Cadogan, 2nd Troops Horse Grenadiers, 3rd and 4th Troops Horse Guards, Royal Reg.t Horse Guards; 1st, 2nd and 3rd battalions Foot Guards, Howard, Duroure, Bligh, Peers, Handasyde, Johnson, Ponsonby, Huske, Bragg, Campbel, Pulteney, Cornwallis; Legonier, Earl Pembroke, Cope, S.r Rob.t Rich, Campbell. This same order of battle, located in Flanders, is shown on RCIN 728054.

    Condition: no fold lines; two broad bands of surface dirt along each side, recto and verso; crease marks in the paper suggest that the item may have been rolled up.
