    An order of battle of the British army in Flanders in 1742 under the command of John Dalrymple, 2nd Earl of Stair (1673-1747). War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48).

    The General Officers under Marshal the Earl of Stair are Lieutenant-Generals Campbell, the Earl of Dunmore, and Honywood; Major-Generals Ligonier, Cope, Howard, Earl of Albemarle and Hawley. Regiments are named. The regimental rectangles are coloured according to the colours of the coats and facings.

    The squadrons, dragoons and battalions are: Hawley, Honeywood, Cadogan, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Troops Horse Guards, Hertford; 1st, 2nd and 3rd battalions Foot Guards, Howard, Cornwallis, Pulteney Campbell, Handasyd, Johnson, Ponsonby, Huske, Peers, Bligth, Duroure, Onslow; Ligonier, Pembroke, Cope, Rich, Campbell.

    Condition: one fold line; torn along fold. Verso: a band of surface dirt along left side, perhaps the leading edge of the formerly rolled item; bottom, right of centre, a lighter patch, and image ghosting, from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
