This is one of a set of six encampment maps of which the first one is missing (not present when catalogued in the early nineteenth century); see RCINs 729007.a-f. The accompanying journal (RCIN 729007.a) notes that 'Le 6me [de Juin] le poste de Gavern fut renforcer jusqu'a deux cent / hommes, l'on traia une Tete de pont pour couvrir les deux pont de pontoons qui furent commence le meme jours dant le Vil= / lage vid: plan N.o5...' followed by a further description of the post.
