A map of the Battle of Oudenaarde, fought on 11 July 1708 between the Allied army of Great Britain, Dutch Republic and Holy Roman Empire, commanded by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722), Henry, Count of Nassau, Lord of Overkirk [Hendrik van Nassau, Heer van Ouderkerk] (1640-1708), Prince Eugène of Savoy (1663-1736), and the French, commanded by Louis, Duke of Burgundy (1682-1712) and Louis Joseph de Bourbon, Duke of Vendôme (1654-1712), resulting in an Allied victory. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north-west to top.

This map is a close copy of Fricx's map of the battle at RCIN 726002 and was published during the War of the Austrian Succession, the year after the then Allied army had been defeated by the French at the siege of Oudenaarde in 1745. The Allied army had also encamped all over this area during 1744 and a map by George Augustus Schultz of these encampments, using as a base part of Fricx's earlier map of the Battle of Oudenaarde, is at RCIN 729006.
