Sieges, marches, encampments and battles in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands
Engraving; printed on paper; laid down on a paper mount | Scale: not stated | RCIN 725057
A map of the marches and encampments of the Spanish army in central Spain, under the command of Philip V of Spain (1683-1746), in 1706. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north to top.
There is no key to the map; main march routes appear to be shown by double lines, routes taken, perhaps, by detachments may be marked by a single line. Places of encampment are not readily apparent.
The map covers part of present-day Castille-La Mancha and extends approximately from Siguenza (Sigüenza 41°04'08"N 02°38'35"W) in the north-east to Maqueda (40°03'58"N 04°22'14"W) in the south-west and to Ucles (Uclés 39°58'45"N 02°51'41"W) in the south-east.
