A map of Brussels showing the attacks made on the city by the French army commanded by Maximillian II, Elector of Bavaria (1662-1726) in November 1708. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with east to top (cardinal points).

The attacks shown on this map only lasted from 24-26 November at which point the Elector of Bavaria learned of the passage of the Scheldt by the Allied army and quickly raised the siege, leaving behind a quantity of military equipment. Most of the streets on this plan are named.

Ils fits donner un assaut au chemin couvert le 26 qui dura depuis neuf heures du soir jusqu’à neuf heures du Matin sans discontinuer; après quoi aiant été informé du passage de l'Escaut par l'Armée / des Hauts et Puissants Alliez il leva le Siege avec precipitation, laissant toute son Artillerie qui consistoit en 19. pieces de Canon et 2. Mortiers, avec Poudre, Balles, et autres munitions de Geurre. L'Attaque fut entre la Porte de Louvain et la Porte de Namur. [across top of map]
