A map of the siege of Douai, 23 April to 26 June 1710, by the Allied army (Great Britain, Dutch Republic, Austria), as it stood on 3 June, commanded by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722), resulting in the surrender of the town by the French. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with south-east to top.

A large-scale map showing only the western fortified town walls and the approach parallels and batteries, together with their lines of fire.

Additional text: [bottom right, below title, in title panel, a key, A-F, to the positions of the town, the attack on the right by the Prince of Anhalt, the attack on the left by the Prince of Orange, batteries with cannon, batteries of mortars, and the field defences of the French on the glacis.]

Condition: no fold lines; this item has been considerably trimmed because only the top portion of the shadow and ghosting from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label is visible, verso, top left.
