A map of the siege of Menen, 23 July-25 August 1706, by the Allied army, commanded by General Ernst Wilhelm von Salisch (1649-1711), resulting in the surrender of the town by the French commander, the marquis de Laramain. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north-east to top (cardinal points).

Condition: one fold line; 2 to 3 cm trimmed from bottom margin. Verso, bottom, right of centre: water-stained patch and shadow from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label (top two thirds only).
