The attacks were led by Carl Philipp, Reichsgraf von Wylich und Lottum (1650-1719), supreme commander of the Prussian troops, Lieutenant-General François Nicolaas, Baron von Fagel (1645-1718), and Johann Matthias von der Schulenberg (1661-1747).
The lines of circumvallation are shown, together with the dispositions of the English, Prussian and Dutch troops. The publication date of 1721 or later is taken from the date of the formation of the firm under Johannes Covens and Cornelis Mortier on 20 November 1721 (van Egmond, p.57). This map may have been published in 1745, around the time of the siege of Tournai after the Battle of Fontenoy (11 May) during the War of the Austrian Succession.
