A map of the country between Rye and Hastings with the camps on Playdon Heights and Fairlight Down in 1779. American War of Independence (1775-83). Oriented with north-west to top (cardinal points and magnetic north).

The map is very similar to that at RCIN 734032.ae, with the addition of the information about the camps of 1780 and 1781.

Additional text: [top left, in title panel, a description of the high ground, distances, and a key, a-d, to the batteries. A note under the title cartouche relates to the encampments at Rye in 1780 and 1781.]

Condition: one fold line; two small tears to left edge; 2.0 cm tear to right edge; surface dirt along left edge. Verso: surface dirt along right edge, consistent with having been rolled.
