Parker's second in command on the expedition to the Baltic was Vice-Admiral Sir Horatio Nelson. This view shows part of the route of the expedition to Copenhagen, preparatory to the Battle of Copenhagen on 2 April 1801. Castle Kronenborg was formerly a Danish royal residence (Hamlet's 'Elsinor') until it was captured by the Swedes in 1658; it became a prison from 1739 until the 1900s.
