The campsites, shown by two parallel lines of tents, are not annotated with the dates of the encampments. The map extends from Orroi (Orroir, Walloon Region, Belgium 50°44ʹ59ʺN 03°38ʹ51ʺE) and Escaneffe (Escanaffles, Walloon Region, Belgium 50°45ʹ27ʺN 03°27ʹ11ʺE) in the top left, to near Herines (Herne, Flanders, Belgium 50°43ʹ27ʺN 04°02ʹ05ʺE) in the top right corner; and from Valenciennes (Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France 50°21ʹ00ʺN 03°32ʹ00ʺE) in the bottom left to Philippeville (Walloon Region, Belgium 50°11ʹ46ʺN 04°32ʹ37ʺE) in the bottom right corner.
Condition: eight fold lines; laid down on canvas; heavy discolouration and waterstaining; the item is unevenly cropped; small triangular piece cut from each corner. Verso: the manuscript title ‘Camps de 1689’ is written at the top of one of the folded panels.
