This is a rough drawing of the British, Austrian, Hessian and Hanoverian encampments and marches between Frankfurt am Main (50°07'00"N 08°41'00"E), Mainz (50°00'00"N 08°16'16"E), and Worms (49°38'08"N 08°21'35"E). What appears to be the continuation of this map, from Worms south to Germersheim (49°13'23"N 08°21'50"E) is on RCIN 728104.c. This sketch would have formed one of the source materials for the finished map at RCIN 728103, and the descriptive text might have been used in the compilation of the 'Journal' which was left blank on that map.
The maps were formerly kept in a thick light buff rag folder, 50.5 x 31.4 cm (folded size), on the front of which is inscribed, in ink: No.s 328-330 / [old heading, red ink:] Battle of Dettingen 27 June 1743 and Encampments from that time to / the 13 Oct.r 1743 / [black pencil, in a modern hand:] (a b c Oct. '86).
