A map of the encampment of the Allied army (Austrian, Hanoverian and Dutch) under the command of Duke d'Arenberg, at Feldkirchen, 17-23 May 1745. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with south-east to top (cardinal points with magnetic north).

The area covered, in present-day Rhineland-Palatinate, extends from Leidestorff (Leutesdorf (50°27'00"N 07°23'00"E) in the north-west to Weissenthurmer Werth island in the Rhine (50°25'00"N 07°28'00"N) in the south-east, and from Andernach (50°26'00"N 07°24'00"E) in the south-west, to Rohtenbach (50°28'00"N 07°26'00"E) in the north-east. The Hanoverian Headquarters are shown at Neuwitt (Neuwied 50°26'00"N 07°28'00"E).

Austrian troops are shown in green, Hanoverian in red, and Dutch in yellow.

The three items at RCINs 729076.a-c were formerly housed in a buff rag paper folder which had the George III heading on the front: 'Encampments of Feldt-kirchen and Mulickhoven and Journal of the operations of the Allied Army from the 29.th April to the 31.st May 1745'. An ink inscription: 'No.s 418-420' refers to the numbers stamped in black on the items; the black pencil inscription '(a-c) CMB Nov'86' [i.e. 1986] is written below the George III heading in a modern hand.
