A map of the British and Hanoverian encampment at Deinze, 10 October 1744. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-west to top.

In the same hand as RCINs 729011-12, 729014, 729017, 729020-22, 729030, 729037-8, 729047-55, 729057-8.

This is a more neatly drawn copy, in the same hand, of RCIN 729055. The march of the British and Hanoverian troops from Chateau de Huysse north-west to Deinze was about 10 km (6.2 miles). The camp, on the east side of the River Lys, extends for a distance of about 7 km (4.3 miles) from Bachten (Bachte 50°59'51"N 03°32'54"E) in the north, through Astene (50°59'06"N 03°33'59"E) south-west to Machelen (50°57'35"N 03°29'25"E).

Condition: no fold lines; colour and ink, bottom right, smudged, possibly when the map was laid down. Verso: discolouration from the paste.
