The plan shows, in red, the damage to the Pucelle and Coehoorn bastions by the French batteries. The retrenchments within the bastions, made by the garrison at Bergen op Zoom, are drawn in yellow and black.
The town of Bergen op Zoom, fortified by Baron Menno van Coehoorn (1641-1704; Dutch military engineer) and garrisoned under the command of General Isaac Cronström (1661-1752; a Swedish officer serving as General in Chief of the Dutch army), was besieged by the French army under the command of General Count Ulrich Löwendahl (1700-55; a German-born Danish officer serving in the French army), from 14 July to 18 September, when the fortified town was taken by the French.
Condition: three fold lines, surface dirt on verso.
